Most adults who get in touch with me start the same way: “I’ve always wanted to play, but I think it’s a bit late now.” It isn’t. Adults learn the piano very well. You understand what you’re practising and why, you can organise your own time, and you know what music you want to play. What usually gets in the way is the idea that lessons are made for children.

These lessons are made for adults. They’re one-to-one, at your own pace, and built around the music you actually want to play.

Who these lessons are for

  • Complete beginners who have never touched a piano and want to start properly, without feeling rushed.
  • Returning players who had lessons as children, stopped, and want to pick it back up.
  • Self-taught players who learned from videos and want to fix their technique, read music better or fill in the gaps.
  • Parents who want to learn alongside their children, or finally have some time for themselves.

What a lesson looks like

We start with you at the keys, playing, from the very first lesson. My approach is hands-on and ear-first: you learn to listen, to find melodies and to feel rhythm, and reading music comes in step by step, when it makes sense rather than as a wall you have to climb before you’re allowed to play.

Behind that is a solid classical training. Posture, hand position and technique are there from the start, so that you avoid the habits that make playing harder later. But the repertoire is yours: classical, film and pop music, Brazilian music, or the one piece you’ve always wanted to learn.

Where the lessons happen: at your home in Dublin (depending on distance) or online by video call, anywhere in Ireland. Lessons are in English or Portuguese.

How much practice do you really need?

Less than most people fear. Short, regular practice works much better than one long session at the weekend. Fifteen or twenty minutes on most days is enough to make steady progress, and we plan each week’s practice together so it fits your routine, not the other way round.

If you don’t have a piano yet, that’s fine too. A digital piano with weighted keys is a good way to start, and I can help you think about what to look for before you buy anything.

The first lesson is free

The trial lesson is a full lesson at no cost and with no obligation. We talk about what you’d like to play, try a few things at the piano, and you get a feel for how I teach. Then you decide.

Questions adults often ask

Am I too old to learn the piano?

No. Adults of every age learn the piano. You may progress differently from a child, but adults usually understand concepts faster and practise with more purpose.

I’ve never read music. Is that a problem?

Not at all. We start by playing and listening, and reading music is introduced gradually, at a pace that feels comfortable.

I had lessons as a child. Do I have to start from zero?

No. The first lesson helps us see what you remember and what needs work, and we build from there.

Where do the lessons take place?

At your home in Dublin, depending on distance, or online by video call anywhere in Ireland.

Do I need my own piano?

For practising between lessons, yes. A digital piano with weighted keys is a good start. If you don’t have one yet, get in touch and we can talk about options.
